The appointment of an experienced data analyst by the organisation responsible for light rail safety in the UK is set to help drive further risk reduction across the sector.
Danish Malik joins the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board with a wealth of experience across several industry sectors, including finance and medical insurance, where he has provided vital business insights through effective analysis of detailed statistical information.
At the LRSSB, his expertise will help the organisation refine its data-driven approach to risk reduction and management, including extracting maximum benefit from an enhanced Tramway Accident and Incident Reporting (TAIR) system.
Laura Reardon, Head of Safety Risk Management at the LRSSB, explained: “We are delighted to welcome Danish to our team, and the ‘in-house’ expertise his appointment brings will enable us to offer the sector even more detailed insights into the threats facing light rail networks.
“His ability to translate complex data sets into insightful reports will help ensure light rail systems can make more informed decisions on where to make safety improvements based on the information they feed into TAIR.”
On joining the LRSSB earlier this month, Danish said: “I’m really looking forward to building on the fantastic work already done by the LRSSB to drive a data-driven approach to tramway safety.
“I was certainly drawn to the organisation by the chance to work for an organisation that’s delivering excellent real benefits for the sector, its employees, customers and the wider travelling public.”
