A recent Westminster event provided the ideal opportunity for the LRSSB to step up its engagement with key stakeholders.

At the invitation of Labour MP Jo Stevens, LRSSB Chief Executive, Carl Williams, attended a recent Parliamentary Reception organised by the rail driver’s union ASLEF.

As well as hearing from the union’s General Secretary Mick Whelan on a campaign to improve the design of cabs, the event enabled the LRSSB strengthen links with an organisation representing many tram drivers.

“Working on the front line, drivers have a vital role to play in helping us to further improve light rail safety and increasing our engagement with operational staff has been identified as a priority in our most recent business plan,” Carl said.

“Events such as this have an important role to play in helping us to raise our own profile, as well as the chance to listen to the views of union leaders and the workers they represent as we strive to build new partnerships to help drive light rail safety.”
