A series of animated videos have put the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board in the frame for a high-profile award.

Using eye-catching graphics, they’ve proved a hit since being launched earlier this year, providing top tips for passengers and advice for pedestrians when crossing the tracks.

Now the ‘be SMART around Trams’ videos have been shortlisted in the Significant Safety Initiative category at the Global Light Rail Awards, with the winners set to be announced at a gala event in London next week.

Jamie Swift, LRSSB Head of Commercial, commented: “A number of networks are already using the videos to complement their own safety campaigns and we’re delighted that they have been recognised as making a real contribution to light rail safety.”

Produced on behalf of the LRSSB by Midlands-based agency Creative Star, the videos can be viewed here where they can also be downloaded by LRSSB members.

The award winners are set to be announced during a gala event at the Honourable Artillery Company in London on Wednesday, October 5.
